COLTS GRAND FINAL SATURDAY 9:20am – Highgate Reserve Craigieburn

A message from the Colts Facebook Page –

“Three hundred and eighty-one days ago, UHSVU bowed out of the VAFA Colts with a 19-point loss to Williamstown. A hugely talented squad had managed just three wins for the season, and the losses included multiple 100-point annihilations. Humiliated, mentally shot, they were second last on the ladder. Finals, let alone a premiership, looked a long shot.

Eighteen of the current squad played that day. Those eighteen, complete with several new additions – the icing on the cake to a squad brimming with talent – have combined to create a club unmatched in culture and talent, accounting for the entire league on the way to the biggest day in football: The Grand Final.

Ivanhoe knocked off UHSVU in the first final. On a wet, cold and torrid day in the east, and with UHSVU having several players playing under injury or illness, Ivanhoe earned their right to play in the big day. In a huge statement of intent, UHSVU went and pulverized a hapless La Trobe by 81 points. Both clubs have beaten each other this season, setting the stage for a no-holds-barred contest.

Craigieburn might be a long way. 9.15am might be early. But it’s one Saturday, in September. One Saturday that our boys have worked their arses off for ten months, sacrificing their time, their bodies, nights out, and sleep-ins to get to where we are. No side deserves this premiership more than us. No side wants it more than us.

But we can’t do it without your support. Come down; support a mate, a teammate or a brother. We need it. They’re entire senior team will be there. We need you. Sacrifice one morning to come see 30 blokes who’ve sacrificed a year to get where they are.

POST GAME EVENT – COLTS GRAND FINAL SATURDAY

Following on from the game, the club will be putting on a BBQ and drinks back at Bren’s. We have on good authority this will include more than just a cheap snag.

This will begin straight after the game with the BBQ scheduled for 1pm. The Sydney V Fremantle final will be up on the big screen also.

All players, officials and spectators are welcome to attend and hopefully celebrate a win!
