Round 3 Review!
UHSW kicked off proceedings at a foggy Brens Oval against De La Salle. The lack of sunshine was not to dampen any spirits nor affect our ability to start the game well!
Maddi Hince continued her purple patch of form with 3 majors as well as Gel Vaira getting in on the action with 3 herself. As the sun broke through Ana Gil and Sarah Noonan were running all over the De La outfit leaving UHSW 11 goal winners at the final siren!
De La Salle 1.4.10
Travelling south, our Thirds faced a determined Hampton Rovers team. The boys had their work cut out for them as Hampton’s accuracy proved to be the difference. The efforts of Ant Balos and Nick Rowland were large but even the return of “Seen Rathjeen” was not enough to lift Uni over the line. Duggan and Sinny finishing with the only snags.
Hampton Rovers 9.3.57
UHS VU 2.11.23
At the same time as the Thirds were playing, our Reserves were having much more luck piling on a big score against Emmaus to continue their unbeaten run.
Adam Lade has shot out of the blocks this year like a new man, along with Henry Schrier and the return of the Rolls Royce (Sam “Boo Nana” McSweeney) they dictated the game from all over the ground. Clay Lund finished the day with 4 goals and continues to flourish in season 2018.
Emmaus St. Leo 7.5.47
UHS VU 20.24.144
At the prime time of 2:00pm under the “April Sun in Burwood” our Seniors were caught in an early arm wrestle with a proud Emmaus first XVIII. Only 1 point separated the two at the quarter time break before Brandon Jackson and Joseph Turner took the Emmaus defence to the cleaners, kicking bags of 5 each. Charlie Jackson and Gerard Hawkins were both inspirational in defence, lifting the rest of the team with them. Mitchell Sweeney couldn’t help but get involved in the party by nailing 4 big ones himself.
